Residents of the Koryukivka district attempted to dismantle a downed Russian drone
In the Koryukivka district of Chernihiv Oblast, local residents put themselves in mortal danger while attempting to dismantle an enemy drone for spare parts.
After Ukrainian troops shot down a Russian drone, civilians attempted to drain fuel from it and remove individual components.
Pavlo Miroshnychenko, head of the Koryukivka District Military Administration, officially reported this incident.
The official emphasized that such actions are extremely dangerous, as downed drones often contain unexploded ordnance or self-destruct mechanisms.
“In the Koryukivka district, there was an incident where local residents attempted to dismantle an enemy drone shot down by the Ukrainian military for spare parts and to drain its fuel,” Miroshnychenko noted in his statement.
The military administration urges citizens to follow safety rules and immediately report any discoveries to the State Emergency Service or the police.
Any interference with the structure of a downed aircraft can lead to tragic consequences due to hidden booby traps.
Currently, pyrotechnic service specialists have already removed the remains of the drone for further examination and destruction.
Law enforcement officials have conducted outreach with local residents to prevent similar incidents of looting or dangerous curiosity in the future.
As a reminder, a Russian FPV drone attacked a store in Slatyn, Kharkiv Oblast, leaving two people injured.
A Russian drone also attacked an administrative building in Sumy.
