A resident of Cherkasy was sentenced to 15 years in prison for sabotage at a Ukrzaliznytsia facility

A 49-year-old resident of Cherkasy was found guilty of treason and sabotage and sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.

This was reported by the Cherkasy Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

According to the investigation, in early March 2025, the man agreed to carry out tasks for Russian intelligence agencies, which he received via the Telegram messenger.

He purchased flammable materials and set fire to relay and battery cabinets at a railway facility in Cherkasy.

Law enforcement officers detained him shortly after the sabotage in Kherson. The accused remained in custody during the investigation.

The Counterintelligence Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine detained another agent of the Russian GRU in Rivne.

Earlier, the Security Service of Ukraine detained a Russian agent in the Kharkiv region who was collecting data for missile and bomb strikes on Ukrainian military positions in the Kupiansk direction.

In addition, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) detained a Russian agent who, under the guise of fulfilling defense contracts, was coordinating airstrikes on Kyiv. 

Prior to this, the Security Service of Ukraine detained an enemy agent in Zaporizhzhia who was attempting to infiltrate a strategic enterprise within the defense-industrial complex.
