After his resignation, Zhukov became an advisor to the head of the National Police

Yevhen Zhukov, head of the Patrol Police Department, who resigned following an incident involving patrol officers during a terrorist attack in Kyiv, has been appointed to a new position as an advisor to the head of the National Police.

This was announced by Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko during a meeting with journalists.

According to the minister, in his new role, Zhukov will focus on issues related to the deployment of police forces under wartime conditions and enhancing their effectiveness in the context of the war.

The duties of the head of the Patrol Police Department have been temporarily assigned to Zhukov’s deputy, General Oleksandr Fatsievich.

Klymenko noted that he respects Zhukov’s decision, who, according to him, initiated his own resignation following the actions of his subordinates, which became the basis for an internal investigation.

The minister also reported that, based on the results of the review, personnel decisions were made regarding the entire chain of command of the patrol police—from unit commanders to the leadership of the Kyiv department. He suggested that these are not final changes, and further decisions may still be made by the National Police leadership.

Separately, Klymenko emphasized the need to appoint people with combat experience to leadership positions within the units.

The head of the Patrol Police Department, Yevhen Zhukov, officially submitted his resignation from his post.
