The Ukrainian Armed Forces will conduct urban combat and trench warfare exercises at training grounds in Poland

Units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are undergoing intensive training at military training grounds in Poland, where they are honing their skills in urban combat and trench warfare.

This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The statement notes that special attention during the exercises was paid to one of the most challenging aspects of modern warfare.

“Ukrainian servicemen focused on one of the most difficult elements—combat operations in urban environments. The training included practicing advanced techniques: safe approaches to buildings, breaching entrances, ‘clearing’ premises, as well as methods of defending and camouflaging strongpoints,” the statement reads.

Separately, the military is training to operate in trench and tunnel systems, drawing on combat experience gained at the front.

“At the same time, drawing on experience gained in Ukraine, the units refined combat tactics in trench systems and communication trenches. The training focuses on reaction speed, precise weapon handling, and the skillful use of hand grenades, which is critically important in close combat,” the General Staff reported.

The agency emphasized that the training is taking place within the framework of the European mission EUMAM Ukraine with the participation of instructors from the Joint Combat Training Command. They are working alongside Ukrainian military personnel, imparting the practical skills necessary for combat operations.

The EUMAM Ukraine mission aims to enhance the combat readiness of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, strengthen the ability to defend Ukraine’s territorial integrity, and counter potential future threats.

As a reminder, Germany is expanding its military exchange program and actively involving Ukrainian instructors with real combat experience in the training of Bundeswehr units to adapt its army to the conditions of modern warfare. Ukrainian military personnel are already working at key training schools and sharing the practical skills they gained on the front lines.
