While Ukrainians are facing power outages and adjusting to new restrictions, the management of NEC “Ukrenergo” has approved large annual bonuses. The company’s supervisory board approved the payments for achieving key performance indicators (KPIs) in 2024–2025.
The most attention was drawn to former board chairman Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, who, despite his dismissal, was also included on the list of recipients of multi-million bonus payments.
Kudrytskyi was dismissed amid a scandal in September 2024 following a meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s Headquarters. The official reason cited by the state leadership was the improper implementation of previous decisions by the Headquarters and the unsatisfactory (failed) defense of Ukrenergo’s facilities against Russian strikes, which led to widespread power outages following the massive attack on August 26, 2024.
However, even this decision does not hinder his earnings in the slightest. According to the minutes of the supervisory board, the fulfillment of his individual key performance indicators (KPIs) for that same “disastrous” year of 2024 was approved at 48%.
On June 30, 2026, Mr. Kudrytskyi was set to receive an annual bonus of 2.07 million UAH.
There is a specific name behind this decision. Board member Yuriy Boyko actively lobbied the supervisory board to approve bonus payments to Kudrytskyi and other top managers. It is precisely thanks to his efforts and influence within the board that the company’s former head—who had been fired for poor performance—once again found himself on the list for bonuses worth millions.
The logic is striking: the country’s power grid is in the worst crisis in its history, facilities are left unprotected, and executives are being fired by order of the High Command, but according to the supervisory board’s documents and thanks to certain members—everyone suddenly becomes “effective” and deserves millions from the state coffers.
