Russian agent sentenced to 15 years for directing attacks on Ukrainian airfields
In Ukraine, a court sentenced a Russian agent who helped coordinate attacks on Ukrainian airfields. According to the SBU, the man received 15 years in prison for collaborating with the occupiers.
This was reported on Telegram by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).
According to the investigation, a 31-year-old unemployed Ukrainian citizen was recruited by the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Federation (formerly GRU). He helped adjust missile strikes on Ukrainian airfields in Khmelnytskyi region.
Among the enemy’s priority targets were airfields hosting Ukrainian combat helicopters. To monitor the locations of aircraft and helicopters, the Russian agent set up an observation post in his own home, which was located near a restricted facility. He also installed a roof-mounted camera with remote access for his Russian “handlers.”
The Russians planned to use this setup to track Ukrainian aviation activity in preparation for air attacks. However, the scheme was uncovered in March 2025 when the SBU arrested the agent.
During searches, the SBU seized the agent’s smartphone and camera, containing evidence of his work for the Russian occupiers. Based on the collected evidence, the court found him guilty under Part 2, Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason committed during martial law) and sentenced him to 15 years in prison with property confiscation.
Earlier, a Ukrainian soldier who directed Russian strikes on Ukrainian positions in Kursk region was also convicted.
Previously, the SBU detained a coordinator of Russian strikes on Chernivtsi, and uncovered a Russian spy network that planned terror attacks using teenagers.
