Albania condemned the Russian attack on the Honorary Consulate of Latvia in Sloviansk
Albanian Foreign Minister Ferit Hoxha condemned the Russian attack on the Latvian Honorary Consulate building in Slavyansk. According to him, this was an attack not only on a diplomatic mission but also on international law.
“We strongly condemn the Russian attack on the Latvian Honorary Consulate in Sloviansk,” the Albanian foreign minister emphasized.
Hoxha also expressed full solidarity with Latvia and Ukraine. He noted that Albania has its own experience with such attacks, as its diplomatic missions have also been targeted on multiple occasions.
“Unfortunately, Albanian diplomatic missions have also been repeatedly targeted by such attacks. We know from our own experience that such attacks are not merely attacks on buildings. They are attacks on international law, the rules-based international order, and the principles that unite the democratic world,” Hoxha noted.
At the same time, the Albanian foreign minister expressed his conviction that such actions by the Kremlin will not be able to break either Ukraine’s resilience or the international community’s solidarity in supporting it.

As a reminder, on the morning of July 24, Russian troops carried out an airstrike on Sloviansk in the Donetsk region. Five people were killed in the attack, and nine others were injured. Residential buildings, a business, and the premises of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Latvia were also damaged.
Russia launched a ballistic missile strike on Kyiv on the afternoon of July 24, although such attacks usually take place at night. The expert believes this could have been an attempt to wear down Ukraine’s air defense, a show of force, or the result of a technical delay in the missile launch.
