A drone attack on Dnipro caused fires and damage in residential areas

On the night of May 17, Russian occupation forces carried out yet another attack on Dnipro using several groups of attack drones. The first reports of enemy drones moving toward the city came from the Ukrainian Air Force command shortly before midnight, and within a short time, the first fires were reported in city neighborhoods.

The head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Hanzha, confirmed the outbreak of several large fires, including a major blaze at one of the private residential buildings.

In his morning report, the head of the Regional Military Administration released updated figures on the number of injured and the extent of material damage. Two local residents, aged 50 and 60, sought medical attention on their own; they were promptly provided with first aid and released for outpatient treatment. In addition to the residential building, debris and blast waves damaged the grounds of a local enterprise. Thanks to the prompt response of emergency services, the consequences of the strikes were quickly mitigated, and the fires in the residential area were contained.

Over the past week, Russian occupation forces have launched more than 3,170 attack drones, over 1,300 guided aerial bombs, and 74 missiles of various types—the vast majority of which were ballistic—at Ukrainian territory.

On May 16, Russian occupation forces carried out massive shelling of the Kherson region, resulting in one fatality and 15 civilians sustaining injuries of varying severity.

On the night of May 17, Ukrainian air defense forces shot down and neutralized 279 enemy drones out of 287 launched by Russian military units.

A 25-year-old woman was injured as a result of an enemy drone strike on a gas station in the Zaporizhzhia district.
