Drone attack on Kyiv: hits recorded in Solomianskyi district, fires break out
On 12 January, a Russian drone attack struck the Solomianskyi district of Kyiv, resulting in a hit on a non-residential building and the fall of debris near a residential area.
According to Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko, as of 7:55 a.m. two fire outbreaks were recorded in the district. They were caused by a direct hit, while the blast wave also affected nearby residential buildings.
According to operational data, two areas of damage were identified:
- Non-residential buildings: A fire broke out as a result of a direct drone strike. Firefighters have since localised the blaze.
- Residential sector: Debris fell near a residential building. The blast wave shattered window glass and caused a fire.
Emergency services are working at the scene, and details regarding possible casualties are still being clarified.
In connection with the incident, a temporary public transport traffic scheme has been introduced, as the capital continues to stabilise its energy system following previous large-scale attacks.
