Gas stations in frontline regions may be granted critical infrastructure status
Gas stations in Ukraine’s frontline regions may be designated as critical infrastructure. This initiative is being considered to ensure the uninterrupted operation of the fuel network during wartime.
In addition, the Office of the President has ordered the strengthening of the air defense system in the Sumy region to enhance the region’s protection against Russian airstrikes.

Representatives of the Defense Forces, as well as agencies involved in ensuring the region’s functioning and addressing the aftermath of the recent massive attacks, provided briefings.
Anti-drone protection in Sumy Oblast
Russia is attacking gas stations, large grocery stores, civilian vehicles on the roads, residential neighborhoods, and other facilities that support the daily lives of communities.
Given the changing situation, we are further strengthening anti-drone defenses. In Sumy Oblast, the Regional Military Administration and local communities have already protected over 400 kilometers of roads with anti-drone nets. Several hundred more kilometers are currently being set up. Work is ongoing around the clock.
Gas Stations in Frontline Regions Are Critical Infrastructure
We discussed the possibility of designating gas stations in frontline regions as critical infrastructure. This will allow us to allocate additional resources to their protection and ensure their uninterrupted operation.
Regional State Administrations were instructed to work with local communities to increase financial and logistical support for existing, new, and expanded air defense units in the region, including UAV crews, mobile fire teams, and others.
Together with the military, we are preparing a separate package of measures to provide additional air defense.
This was stated by Viktor Mykyta, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, who held an on-site meeting in the Sumy region with the participation of regional leadership, local government officials, military commanders, and others.
Following Russian attacks on the Kharkiv–Poltava highway, not a single gas station remains operational.
As a reminder, Russian drones attacked the Chernihiv region, damaging a gas station and a resort.
The WOG gas station chain in Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast will temporarily suspend nighttime operations due to the increased risk of enemy shelling.
