A soldier in the Ukrainian Armed Forces' assault regiment has gone on 16 combat missions
The commander of one of the assault regiments spoke about a soldier who had left his post without authorization 16 times. According to him, despite efforts to strengthen the army, the issue of unauthorized absences remains one of the most serious challenges facing the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Dmytro Filatov, commander of the First Separate Assault Regiment named after Dmytro Kotsyubailo and known by the call sign Perun, spoke about this on Channel 24.
“I don’t see any quick solutions regarding mobilization. Ukraine is exhausting its pool of motivated people who want to defend the country. Now mobilization is becoming more of a coercion than a conscious duty,” he stated.
According to Filatov, the issue of temporary military service has turned into a sort of “sport,” with people going there 10 or more times to avoid the front lines.
“I recently spoke with a guy who had been to the military registration and enlistment office 16 times. Before that, the record was eight. He said, ‘I don’t want to fight. I’ll keep going to the reserve unit, then to the unit. As soon as they give a combat mission—I’ll go again.” When asked if he wants some kind of position or has been in heavy fighting, he says: “No, I’ve never been on the battlefield and don’t plan to. I don’t want any positions.” That’s the story,” Filatov said.
On the night of May 17, a number of military-industrial complex and energy facilities in Moscow and the Moscow region were struck. Strikes were carried out on an oil depot in Durikino, an oil refinery in Kapotnya, the Angstrom microelectronics plant, and the Raduga Design Bureau, which develops cruise missiles.
On the morning of May 16, Moscow also came under attack by drones, causing airports in the Russian capital to temporarily suspend operations.
The “ATESH” partisan movement claimed responsibility for a sabotage operation in the Moscow region, which disrupted the functioning of elements of the Russian air defense system on the outskirts of the capital.
