General Staff: Ukraine has struck a military factory and an oil refinery near Moscow

The Ukrainian Armed Forces used domestically developed weapons to strike targets in the Moscow region of the Russian Federation. According to the General Staff, a microchip factory and an oil station were hit, causing fires at the facilities.

According to military sources, on the night of May 17, Ukrainian army units struck a number of key targets belonging to the Russian aggressor. Ukrainian-designed weapons were used to strike targets in the Moscow region, including the RS-1 “Bars,” FP-1 “Firepoint,” and BARS-SM “GLADIATOR” unmanned systems.

Military leadership expressed gratitude for the effective work of the soldiers of the 412th Separate Unmanned Systems Brigade, the 107th Rocket Artillery Brigade, the 19th “Saint Barbara” Missile Brigade, and other units of the Security and Defense Forces. As a result of the attack near Moscow, the “Angstrom” facility in Zelenograd was struck; it specializes in the production of microchips for high-precision weapons and is a key component of the Russian military-industrial complex.

In addition, the “Solnechnogorskaya” pumping station caught fire; it is a critical part of the ring oil pipeline around Moscow and is used to supply fuel to the occupying forces’ army. In addition to deep strikes behind enemy lines, Ukrainian defenders struck the occupiers’ positions on the front line and in border areas of the Russian Federation.

In particular, an enemy command post in the Bunge area of Donetsk Oblast and drone control centers in Kharkiv, Donetsk, and Kherson Oblasts were struck. Concentrations of enemy personnel in Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia Oblasts, as well as in Volfinsky, Kursk Oblast, Russia, were also targeted.

“The Ukrainian Armed Forces will continue to systematically take measures to completely halt the Russian Federation’s armed aggression against Ukraine,” the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine emphasized.

On the night of May 17, a number of military-industrial complex and energy facilities in Moscow and the Moscow region were struck. Strikes were carried out against an oil depot in Durikino, an oil refinery in Kapotnya, the Angstrom microelectronics plant, and the Raduga Design Bureau, which develops cruise missiles.

On the morning of May 16, Moscow also came under attack by drones, causing airports in the Russian capital to temporarily suspend operations.

The “ATESH” partisan movement claimed responsibility for a sabotage operation in the Moscow region, which disrupted the functioning of elements of the Russian air defense system on the outskirts of the capital.
