Boris Johnson called on Ukraine to intensify its attacks on infrastructure in Russia
Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson believes that Ukraine should continue to put pressure on Russia, in particular by striking its infrastructure. In his view, the Ukrainian military has the necessary long-range capabilities to do so, including drones and “Flamingo” missiles.
The former British prime minister is convinced that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has no intention of ending the war until he faces significantly greater pressure.
“It’s all about Putin. He’s not going to end the war until the pressure becomes much greater. The Ukrainians are applying pressure heroically. You’re using some of the Fire Point systems I saw today for deep strikes... Also, on the front lines, Russia lost a record 42,000 troops in July and August,” Boris Johnson said.
According to him, Putin isn’t winning this war, but he continues it, believing it’s the best option for himself.
“Therefore, keeping up the pressure on him is the only thing we can do. I’m afraid Ukraine is in for another very difficult winter. But now you could try to inflict the same pain on Moscow and St. Petersburg,” said the former British prime minister.
Johnson specifically highlighted the capabilities of Ukraine’s long-range weapons. In his view, strikes on Russian infrastructure could seriously impact Russia’s ability to continue the war.
“You can do this. With these drones and ‘Flamingo’ missiles, along with your other capabilities, you could inflict serious damage on Russia’s infrastructure and put a lot of it out of commission. Why not? Especially if the Russians are planning to attack civilian targets in Ukraine,” the former prime minister emphasized.
He effectively called for the use of long-range weapons to exert the same level of pressure on Russia that Ukrainians are experiencing due to Russian attacks.
The former British prime minister also stated that Russia will not be able to force Ukraine to surrender or conquer it.
“Putin must understand that this war is foolish. And he will not force Ukraine to surrender, nor will he conquer it. On the contrary, he is making Ukraine far more patriotic and determined in its resistance. Putin needs to understand this,” Boris Johnson added.
Thus, Johnson considers further increasing pressure on Russia to be one of the key ways to change the course of the war.
