Due to a massive attack by the Russian Federation, there are new power outages in Kyiv and four other regions
As a result of a massive nighttime attack by Russian occupiers on energy infrastructure facilities in Ukraine, power outages have affected consumers in Kyiv and four regions.
As of the morning of July 2, the most critical situation was reported in the Sumy region, where the largest number of consumers were left without power.
“Overnight and this morning, the enemy carried out a massive missile and drone attack, targeting, among other things, energy infrastructure facilities. As a result of the Russian strikes, the situation in the Sumy region is the most critical as of this morning, with the largest number of consumers there left without power. There are also new power outages in Kyiv, Donetsk, Kharkiv, and Zaporizhzhia regions,” reported NPC “Ukrenergo.”
Despite the challenging conditions, emergency repair crews have already begun restoration work wherever the security situation allows.
In addition to dealing with the aftermath of shelling, specialists are also addressing the effects of severe weather: due to heavy thunderstorms and strong winds, power is out in 70 settlements in the Zakarpattia, Lviv, Chernihiv, and Kyiv regions.
As of 9:30 a.m., electricity consumption nationwide remains at the previous day’s level. However, the power system operator emphasizes the importance of using resources efficiently under current conditions.
“Given the weather conditions, it is advisable to postpone the use of high-power electrical appliances today until the period when industrial solar power plants operate most efficiently—from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. In the evening, from 4:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., there will continue to be an urgent need for energy conservation,” Ukrenergo warns.
