Russian strikes on Odesa region leave more than 95,000 people without electricity
The southern part of Odesa region came under a massive attack by Russian forces, leaving 42 settlements without power.
This was reported by the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Oleh Kiper.
The most critical situation has been recorded in the city of Kiliia, where more than 200 apartment buildings, home to around 9,000 people, were left without gas and central heating due to power outages. As heating in these buildings depends entirely on electricity, thousands of residents have been left in cold homes.
To mitigate the consequences of the strikes, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (DSNS) has deployed seven high-capacity generators to support critical infrastructure, along with eight heat guns and five field kitchens. In addition, 10 extra assistance points are being set up.
“Points of Invincibility” equipped with backup power supplies and heating are already operating in each district to support the population.
Energy workers and emergency services are carrying out round-the-clock repair work to restore electricity supply as quickly as possible.
Previously, Russian forces attacked energy infrastructure in the Izmail district of Odesa region, leaving several communities without electricity.
Russian attacks on Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions also injured a child.
Russia has struck the energy sector in eight regions of Ukraine.
An attack in Khmelnytskyi region also damaged a residential building.
