Russians are showing massive interest in how to make their own gasoline
Amid a widespread fuel shortage in Russia, the local population has begun to take a keen interest in ways to produce fuel on their own. Supply issues are increasingly affecting public sentiment, prompting citizens to search online for instructions on how to make gasoline.
According to data from search query analysis services, the phrase “how to make gasoline” was entered more than 17,000 times in June alone. This figure is nearly three times higher than the statistics for May, when the fuel crisis had not yet reached a nationwide scale.

The highest level of interest in “homemade” gasoline production has been recorded in major Russian cities such as Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Krasnodar. At the same time, a similar surge in specific search queries has been observed in the temporarily occupied Crimea, particularly among residents of Sevastopol and Simferopol.
Amid the fuel crisis in Russia, rural residents are increasingly buying horses instead of cars to travel off-road and manage their farms.
Russia has allowed the use of lower-quality gasoline due to the fuel crisis.
