Russia attacks energy infrastructure in eight regions of Ukraine — Ministry of Energy
During the night, Russian forces carried out a massive missile and drone attack on energy infrastructure facilities. As a result of the shelling, energy facilities in eight regions of Ukraine were damaged. Energy workers are currently eliminating the consequences of the strikes and restoring electricity supply.
This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy.
According to the statement, the enemy used several types of ballistic and cruise missiles — more than 70 missiles and 450 strike drones. The attacks were aimed in particular at combined heat and power plants and thermal power stations in Kyiv, Kharkiv and Dnipro, which were operating exclusively to provide heat supply to residential areas.
“The enemy is deliberately trying to leave Ukrainians without heat during the period of the most severe winter frosts,” the statement said.
Restoration work is ongoing at energy facilities damaged during previous enemy attacks. All possible measures are being taken to ensure the stable operation of the energy system.
“Hourly electricity outage schedules are in effect across the country, as well as power limitation schedules for industry and business. In some regions, due to the difficult situation in the energy system, emergency power outages are being applied. Once the situation stabilises, consumers will return to the forecast hourly schedules. Consumers are urged to follow updates on the official pages of their regional energy distribution companies,” the Ministry of Energy emphasised.
Due to difficult weather conditions, more than 68 settlements in the Kherson, Odesa and Mykolaiv regions remain without electricity. Repair crews from regional energy companies are working around the clock to restore damaged power lines.
