Video: Ukrainian border guards shot down a Russian drone at a record altitude
Operators of the Ukrainian Defense Forces intercepted a Russian ZALA Z-20 reconnaissance drone at a record altitude of 6,858 meters. The target was destroyed by soldiers from the STING unit of the 105th Border Guard Detachment of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
According to border guards, Russian troops are launching ZALA Z-20 reconnaissance drones at high altitudes to make it more difficult for Ukrainian units to detect and engage them. However, operators of Ukrainian unmanned aerial systems were able to intercept the drone at an altitude of 6,858 meters.
The State Border Guard Service emphasized that this is the highest confirmed altitude at which a Ukrainian unit has intercepted an enemy drone of this type.
“And while it’s nice to be record-holders, it’s even nicer to see how Ukrainian technology and the skill of our operators are raising the bar even higher every day,” the statement reads.
Previously, the record for the highest altitude at which a Russian drone was intercepted belonged to the “Lasar’s Group” strike UAV unit of the National Guard of Ukraine.

As a reminder, over the past 24 hours, Russian troops carried out 954 strikes on 54 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia region. One person was killed and another was wounded as a result of the shelling.
On the night of August 2, Russian troops attacked Ukraine with 133 strike and decoy drones of various types. Air defense forces neutralized 109 enemy drones, but strikes were recorded at 19 locations.
