Russia Damaged More Than 1,500 Sites in Ukraine in One Week — Zelenskyy

Over the past week, Russian forces have damaged more than 1,500 structures in Ukraine, including hundreds of residential buildings. At the same time, Russia launched nearly 1,900 drones, about 1,600 guided bombs, and 144 missiles of various types at Ukrainian cities.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported this on August 2. According to him, 16 regions of Ukraine came under Russian attack during the week.

“Over the past week, 16 of our regions were under attack. And during this time alone, the Russians launched about 1,900 drones, nearly 1,600 aerial bombs, and 144 missiles of various types, including ballistic missiles,” the head of state noted.

He added that Russian forces carried out strikes on Sumy, Kharkiv and the Kharkiv region, the Odesa region, Zaporizhzhia, and the Dnipropetrovsk region. In particular, one person was killed and six others were injured in Brovary, Kyiv region, as a result of a drone attack.

“Over the past week, more than 1,500 facilities have been damaged, including hundreds of ordinary residential buildings,” Zelenskyy said.

The president also stated that a significant portion of Russian companies that manufacture components for drones, missiles, and guided bombs are still not subject to sanctions.

According to him, Russia is ramping up production of ballistic weapons, so it is necessary to increase sanctions pressure on enterprises within the Russian defense-industrial complex.

“We need to put pressure on every link in the defense-industrial complex, and it is precisely this pressure that will ultimately help reduce the number of attacks against our people. Sanctions must be expanded and made effective,” Zelenskyy emphasized.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this on Facebook.

On the night of August 2, Ukrainian defense forces struck a number of military and fuel-and-energy facilities on Russian territory. Among the targets hit were the Saratov Oil Refinery, the Engels Airfield, an oil depot in the Kaluga region, and a storage facility for attack drones.

Air defense forces have destroyed more than 445,000 Russian air targets since the start of the full-scale war.
