Has Russia really imposed a “ban” on strikes against Kyiv and Ukraine’s energy sector?
On the morning of 29 January, anonymous Telegram channels and a number of posts by Russian war correspondents widely circulated information claiming that Russia had allegedly introduced a “ban” on strikes against Kyiv.
The same sources claim that the supposed restriction applies not only to the capital but also to energy facilities across Ukraine.
At present, there has been no official confirmation from either Ukraine or Russia. As a result, this information appears to be unverified and difficult to assess without additional facts.
Against the backdrop of these rumours, reports have mentioned talks in the United Arab Emirates, where, according to some sources, a possible “halt” to strikes on energy infrastructure was discussed.
Ukraine’s energy infrastructure has repeatedly been a target of attacks, which is why any reports of potential restrictions are attracting particular attention.
It should be recalled that in Odesa, an industrial facility caught fire following an overnight drone attack.
The Kremlin has also positively assessed the start of direct contacts between Ukraine, the United States and Russia in Abu Dhabi.
