Drapaty ordered an inspection of the 225th Separate Assault Regiment
Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykhailo Drapatiy ordered the Military Law Enforcement Service to conduct an internal investigation into the 225th Separate Assault Regiment. This followed an investigation into possible criminal orders and incidents of violence against service members.
In response to an inquiry from Texty.org.ua journalist Anna Kalyuzhna, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated that they are analyzing the facts and documents related to each issue she raised. “If the facts of illegal actions are confirmed, those responsible will be held accountable in accordance with current legislation,” the General Staff noted.
According to Kalyuzhna, this is currently the only official response from the state to the investigation that she is aware of. The journalist also does not know whether law enforcement agencies have opened criminal cases based on the testimonies presented in the article.

On July 30, media outlets published testimonies from military personnel regarding threats of the use of weapons during their withdrawal from positions, beatings, and the unlawful detention of soldiers. The 225th Regiment denied the existence of “blocking detachments” and stated that armed individuals were stopped for identification purposes because Russian soldiers were wearing Ukrainian uniforms.
Subsequently, Alexander Shirsin, a former battalion commander of the 47th Brigade, stated that in April 2025, in the Belgorod Oblast of the Russian Federation—the aggressor state— soldiers from the 225th Regiment opened artillery fire on a group of Ukrainian fighters.
