A farmer from the Rostov Region was fined for a fire caused by a drone crash
In the Rostov Region, farmer Alexander Greshnov was fined 60,000 rubles after a fire broke out in his field when a Ukrainian drone crashed.
The incident occurred in mid-August during the harvest. Although the fire was caused by an external factor and not by the farmer’s actions, an inspector from the Ministry of Emergency Situations fined him for failing to clear crop residues in a timely manner.
On the day of the incident, Greshnov had harvested the wheat on one plot and moved on to the next, trying to finish the harvest before the rains came. He did not have time to clear the stubble. It was on this very plot that the downed drone crashed, after which the fire started. The field was fenced off along its perimeter, so the fire did not spread further, and firefighters quickly extinguished it. However, a few days later, the farmer was summoned to meet with an investigator from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, who disregarded his arguments that he was not at fault for the drone’s crash.
