The General Staff identified the main hotspots on the front line on May 26
Over the course of May 26 and as of 10:00 p.m., 232 combat engagements took place along the front line, with more than a third of all enemy assaults occurring in the Pokrovsk, Kostyantynivka, and Huliaipole sectors.
This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in its evening update.
Throughout the day, Russian occupation forces actively used their entire arsenal of weapons to strike the positions of Ukrainian defenders and civilian settlements. In total, the following was recorded over the past 24 hours:
Missile and airstrikes: the enemy launched 1 missile strike (using one missile) and 53 airstrikes, dropping a record 186 guided aerial bombs (GAB) on Ukrainian territory;
Drone attacks: the invaders deployed 4,583 kamikaze drones of various types to strike Ukrainian positions;
Artillery shelling: 1,864 rounds of fire from artillery and multiple launch rocket systems were recorded.
Ukrainian defense forces continue to hold back the advance of the occupying forces, inflicting significant losses in manpower and equipment on the enemy in key defense sectors.
Seven combat engagements took place today in the Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk directions. The enemy carried out one airstrike, dropped four guided aerial bombs, and fired 71 times at populated areas and our troops’ positions, two of which involved the use of multiple launch rocket systems.
In the Southern Slobozhansky direction, the enemy stormed the positions of our units nine times in the areas of the settlements of Starytsia, Vilcha, Hraniv, Ternova, Lyman, and Kolodyazne. Two clashes are ongoing.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy attacked the positions of the Defense Forces three times today toward the settlements of Kurylivka, Borova, and Novoplatonivka. Two firefights are ongoing.
In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian soldiers repelled ten attempts by the invaders to advance toward Lyman, Drobysheve, Dibrova, and in the Yampil area.
In the Sloviansk direction, the enemy did not conduct any offensive operations.
In the Kramatorsk sector, our defenders repelled one enemy attack in the Tykhonivka area.
Defense forces repelled 20 enemy assaults in the Kostiantynivka sector near Kostiantynivka, Ivanopil, Pleshchiivka, Rusyn Yar, and toward the settlements of Mykolaipil, Vilne, and Kucheri Yar.
In the Pokrovsk direction, the enemy carried out 34 attacks. The occupiers attempted to advance in the areas of the settlements of Nikanorivka, Kotlyne, Horikove, Novooleksandrivka, Rodynske, Pokrovsk, Hryshyne, and Udachne, as well as toward the settlements of Shevchenko, Bilytske, Serhiivka, and Novopavlivka. Four firefights are still ongoing.
According to preliminary estimates, 25 occupiers were killed and 8 wounded in this sector today; three enemy vehicles and two units of special equipment, as well as one electronic warfare system, were destroyed; 12 vehicles and one unit of special equipment, three artillery pieces, and six enemy personnel shelters were damaged. A total of 162 unmanned aerial vehicles of various types were destroyed or neutralized.
In the Oleksandrivka sector, our defenders repelled one enemy attack near the village of Novokhatske.
In the Huliaipole sector, the occupiers launched 27 attacks in the areas of the settlements of Dobropillia, Zlagoda, Huliaipole, Solodke, Zaliznychne, Staroukrainka, and toward Novozaporizhzhia, Tsvitkove, and Charivne. One battle is currently ongoing.
In the Orikhiv direction, the enemy attempted twice to advance toward Shcherbakiv and Bilohirya.
In the Dnipro direction, our defenders successfully repelled two attacks toward Bilohrudy Island.
In other sectors, there have been no significant changes in the situation.
In recent days, Russian occupation forces have advanced in several areas of the Donetsk region, specifically near Pokrovsk, Rodynske, Kostiantynivka, as well as near the villages of Illinivka and Pleshchiivka.
Ukrainian defense forces stated that the village of Zapsillia in Sumy Oblast remains under their control, despite Russian reports of an alleged “capture.” The military called these statements yet another information attack and a fake that has nothing to do with reality.
