The Defense Forces have debunked false reports about the capture of Zapsillia
The Ukrainian Defense Forces stated that the village of Zapsillia in the Sumy region remains under their control, despite Russian reports of an alleged “capture.” The military called these claims yet another disinformation campaign and a falsehood that has no basis in reality. The “Kursk” military group reported this on Facebook.
A wave of disinformation has once again erupted in Sumy Oblast regarding the situation along the border, where Russian sources have spread claims of the alleged capture of the village of Zapsillia; however, the Ukrainian military immediately refuted this, emphasizing that control over the settlement remains entirely with the Defense Forces.
Such reports are part of Russia’s systematic disinformation campaign aimed at creating the illusion of success on the front lines where there is, in fact, none. “The level of imagination displayed by the authors of Russian Telegram trash channels never ceases to amaze us. We have already debunked the fakes about the alleged ‘liberation’ by Russian occupiers of the town of Myropillia in the Sumy region,” the military noted.
According to Ukrainian defenders, the new reports about Zapsillia are of the same nature and follow a familiar script, where unconfirmed “victories” are released into the information space that have no reflection on the actual map of combat operations. “And now a new lie has popped up about the village of Zapsillia. The same style, the same zeal, and the same nonsense. The Communications Center of the ‘Kursk’ military group officially and responsibly states: both of the aforementioned settlements were and remain under the control of the Ukrainian Defense Forces,” reads the statement from the ‘Kursk’ military group.
The unit emphasized that such disinformation is routine, and its goal is to mislead the audience and create a false impression of the situation on the front lines, while actual control over the territories remains unchanged.
