Over the past 24 hours, on September 20, Ukrainian defenders killed 1,660 Russian soldiers. This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which updated the figures on Russian losses.
As of September 21, Russia has lost the following in the war against Ukraine:
- personnel—approximately 1,519,650 (+1,660) people;
- tanks – 12,361 (+5);
- armored combat vehicles – 25,365 (+4);
- artillery systems – 50,142 (+75);
- multiple-launch rocket systems – 2,149 (+3);
- air defense systems – 1,662 (+3);

- ground-based robotic systems – 2,712 (+17) units;

As a result of Russian attacks on September 20 in the Zhytomyr region, a fire broke out at a transportation infrastructure facility, and dry grass also caught fire.
The death toll from Russian attacks in the Kyiv region has risen to four. A child who was wounded during a strike on the Vyshhorod district died in the hospital. Among the dead are three children and a woman.
Due to the fires in the Kyiv region, smoke and the smell of burning may be present in the capital.
