A Hero of Ukraine Identified a Factor That Could Change the Course of the War
Denis Makarovsky, Chief of Staff of the 25th Separate Airborne Brigade “Sicheslav” of the Airborne Forces and Hero of Ukraine, explained what he believes could be a turning point in the war. He made this statement in an interview with Yulia Kyrienko.
According to the officer, one of the key factors capable of significantly weakening Russia is the high monthly casualties suffered by the occupying army.
“We need to kill 50,000 of them a month. I think this will break the back of the Russian Federation, because it will affect both the economy and their defense industry,” Makarovsky said.
He emphasized that modern warfare no longer allows for losses to be endlessly offset by large numbers of troops. Today, the enemy is detected several kilometers away from Ukrainian positions, after which all available weapons are immediately deployed against them.
“Once the enemy is detected, the maximum number of assets is directed there to simply destroy them and prevent them from even approaching our personnel,” the military official explained.
Commenting on the figure of 50,000 occupiers eliminated per month, Makarovsky noted that it is up to the General Staff to assess the overall picture, since that is where the complete statistics are kept. At the same time, he spoke about the objectives he sets for his brigade.
“I can only provide statistics for my own brigade. I want to eliminate more. I have a target toward which I want to direct my UAVs and artillery in order to eliminate as many of them as possible,” he said.
According to the officer, if the brigade manages to eliminate at least 50 Russian soldiers every day using all available means, that would be a very significant achievement.
He explained that approximately 50 soldiers is the average strength of a combat company. At this rate, he estimates that one Russian brigade could be completely neutralized in about a month. At the same time, the officer acknowledged that Ukrainian defenders need more weapons to achieve this.
