The Main Intelligence Directorate captured a Russian soldier in the occupied territory

Ukrainian reconnaissance troops carried out an operation in territory controlled by Russian forces and captured a Russian serviceman.

The operation involved fighters from the “BAT-13” and “ARATTA” units, part of the “Timur Special Forces Unit” of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. The reconnaissance troops infiltrated the settlement, located the occupier, and forced him to surrender.

A video released shows Ukrainian soldiers ordering the Russian soldier to drop his assault rifle, remove the magazine, and come out of cover. After his capture, the prisoner was taken out of the operation zone.

During interrogation, the occupier stated that he did not know why he had ended up in that position and said that he had “simply been dropped off there.”

The Main Intelligence Directorate noted that the prisoner could be used in a future prisoner exchange and help bring a Ukrainian defender home.
