HIMARS is targeting Russian long-range artillery
Currently, one of the main targets for the U.S. HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems is the Russian army’s long-range artillery. It is precisely these systems that the occupiers are using to support their offensive operations and strike Ukrainian military positions.
“The most important characteristics of a HIMARS target are that it must be worth our effort and the missile we fire. We don’t target small targets because there’s no point in doing so. Our priority now is long-range artillery, which the enemy is trying to deploy en masse to support its assault operations. Since we’ve been operating this system, we’ve really taken a toll on those artillery pieces. Even if we don’t completely destroy them, we disable them or destroy their ammunition and personnel. Suppressing these artillery pieces helps our infantry and hinders the enemy’s advance,” emphasized “Kraft.”
According to him, MLRS fire also targets UAV command posts, ammunition depots, fuel storage facilities, and enemy troop concentrations.
German stressed that air superiority must be achieved not only through interceptors but also by destroying drone launchers.
“We’re always on alert. We try to complete our missions as quickly as possible and then take cover. We operate loudly and quite effectively. The HIMARS’ accuracy against targets reaches nearly 90%, which I consider a very good result. It’s an extremely interesting and impressive weapon,” the soldier added.
He explained that the range of the American MLRS depends on the type of missiles; specifically, the ones most frequently used by Herman’s platoon allow them to strike targets at distances of up to 80 km, reaching not only the front lines but also deep into enemy territory.
The vehicle is equipped with six rockets. As “Kraft” notes, one is usually enough to take out a target.
“When our rocket hits, there’s little chance of survival. It leaves behind a great deal of debris, and everything living within every square centimeter is turned into something dead,” the soldier noted.

The U.S. used HIMARS systems for the first time to strike Iran’s navy.
As a reminder, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the United States is ready to sign security guarantees for Ukraine only as part of an agreement with Russia.
Zelenskyy also declined to assess the performance of the Ukrainian negotiating team.
