Which countries have purchased the most US-made weapons for Ukraine
Three European countries — Germany, the Netherlands and Norway — have become the leading financiers of US weapons supplies for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
This was announced on 10 February by US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker during a briefing in Brussels, according to a correspondent of European Pravda.
The purchases are being carried out under the PURL initiative. This mechanism allows allies to quickly acquire exactly those types of US-made weapons that are most critical for the Ukrainian army at the current stage of the war.
Matthew Whitaker particularly highlighted the role of the current US leader in establishing this effective model of military assistance.
The diplomat emphasised that the initiative helps synchronise partners’ efforts and ensure the frontline is supplied with the necessary resources.
“I would like to highlight the progress we have made with PURL. Created by US President Trump, PURL enables allies and partners to purchase American weapons in order to support Ukraine’s combat capability,” Whitaker said.
Previously, Ukraine and its partners agreed on military support priorities ahead of the Ramstein-format meeting.
Albania has also confirmed assistance to Ukraine under the PURL programme in 2026.
