Kremlin ideologues view a nuclear war as a favorable scenario for Russia

At the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), far-right Russian figures presented a report on Russia’s future, in which the outbreak of a nuclear war and the subsequent seizure of Ukrainian territories are considered a positive scenario.

The authors and speakers of this report were some of the key ideologues behind modern Russian aggression—oligarch Konstantin Malofeev, who in 2014 financed the invasion of the Donbas by terrorist Igor Girkin’s group, and Alexander Dugin, a radical public figure and the chief theorist behind the “Russian World” concept.

In their paper, they outlined three possible paths for Russia by 2050:

  • “Bad” scenario: Russia suffers a complete defeat in the current war, which the authors interpret as a global clash with the collective West. According to the authors, this will result in further large-scale “colonization of Russia.”

  • “Inertial” scenario: The situation continues to develop along its current course without any radical changes. Under this forecast, Moscow allegedly faces an inevitable future under dual American and Chinese hegemony.

  • “Good” scenario: The official achievement of the so-called “clear image of victory in the ideological war.” To achieve this outcome, the authors explicitly call for Russia’s use of nuclear weapons, the total collapse of the European Union, and the complete occupation of Crimea, Odessa, Kharkiv, and other major Ukrainian cities.

To successfully implement the “good” scenario, Malofeev called for the immediate implementation of a radical set of measures within the system of state governance. Among the priorities, he cited harsh, total ideologization (“de-Westernization”), forced “nationalization of the elites,” and the final consolidation of autocracy. For his part, Dugin confirmed that the issue of creating an official state ideology is currently “under constant discussion” behind the scenes at the Russian Presidential Administration. He also added that de facto autocracy in Russia has already been established, but its full legalization is currently proceeding too slowly.

Journalists from the publication “Agency” emphasize that although Malofeev and Dugin currently hold no official state positions in the Kremlin, the public presentation of such radical theses as part of the main program of Russia’s leading economic forum clearly indicates the high demand for such misanthropic ideas among the modern Russian political establishment.

This is reported by the independent investigative publication “Agency.”
