Kellogg warns that ceding Donetsk would be a huge mistake for Ukraine

Retired U.S. Lieutenant General and former special envoy Keith Kellogg has strongly criticised “peace-for-territory” scenarios.

In an interview with Forbes, he emphasised that any territorial concessions in Donetsk would not bring stability but would instead undermine Ukraine’s strategic defence system.

“I am among those who do not believe giving up land in Donetsk is the right idea,” Kellogg stated.

He argued that concessions along the front line would only encourage the aggressor to advance further, depriving Ukraine of key natural and fortified defensive positions.

The general also addressed European allies, urging them to overcome a strategic dependency mindset. He stressed that Europe has sufficient resources to become an independent and powerful force capable of forcing the Kremlin to rethink its calculations.

It should be recalled that Kellogg received additional security in Kyiv due to his supporters. He also explained the circumstances of his resignation.
