Ukraine used Ruta cruise missiles against Russia for the first time

Ukraine has likely carried out its first combat launch of Ruta Block 1 cruise missiles against targets on Russian territory. This is indicated by photographs and video footage of debris released by Russian sources, which are being analyzed by the specialized publication *The War Zone*.

The missile was developed by the Dutch company Destinus, founded by former Russian entrepreneur Mikhail Kokorich, who renounced his Russian citizenship in 2024 and completely reoriented his business to support Ukraine.

The missile systems have been supplied to the Ukrainian Armed Forces since 2024 as part of large-scale military aid packages funded by the Dutch government.

The Ruta Block 1 long-range missile was designed as a relatively inexpensive weapon for mass production. It has a range of over 300 kilometers, is equipped with a 150-kilogram warhead, is launched from a ground-based launcher, and uses its own turbojet propulsion system and a combined navigation system that is resistant to electronic warfare.

The Netherlands will fund the production of approximately 700 Ruta missiles for Ukraine.

A camp for prisoners of war has already been set up in the Netherlands in case of war with Russia.
