Number of drone attacks on Russian territory rises by one-third in 2025

In 2025, the number of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) attacks on Russian territory increased by 33% compared to last year.

Journalists counted only confirmed cases in which a drone either hit a target or crashed on Russian territory.

From the beginning of the year through the end of November, approximately 4,000 such incidents were recorded.

Drones struck targets in at least 49 Russian regions, as well as in occupied Crimea and Sevastopol. The average daily number of attacks was about 11 — meaning nearly every hour a new drone impact or crash was recorded somewhere in the country.

At the same time, the effectiveness of Russian air defense has significantly increased. The number of drones shot down rose by 52% compared to 2024, with Russian air defense systems destroying an average of about nine UAVs per day.

It should be recalled that a drone attack in Russia’s Krasnodar Region damaged a pipeline. Drones also targeted Yaroslavl and Smolensk, causing explosions and fires.
