Kyiv region returns to scheduled power outages

Kyiv region returns to scheduled power outages

Energy workers in Kyiv region resumed planned electricity outage schedules during the daytime on 26 January, after nearly two weeks of chaotic emergency blackouts.

This was reported on DTEK’s Telegram channel.

Despite the strained condition of the power grid, DTEK specialists managed to stabilise the situation. Residents can now rely on clear schedules rather than sudden, unpredictable power cuts.

In a Telegram statement, DTEK stressed that electricity supply remains stable but fragile, warning that any overloads could trigger renewed disruptions.

“Please do not switch on high-power appliances during the first 30 minutes after electricity is restored, and use electrical devices one at a time. This will help prevent overloads and repeat outages,” the company advised.

The most recent schedules for the region had last been published on 16 January, making this the first update in a considerable period.

Across Ukraine, hourly power outage schedules are in effect on 26 January due to Russian attacks on energy infrastructure.

Ukraine’s grid operator Ukrenergo confirmed that all regions face restrictions for industry and blackouts for households, with the duration and timing varying depending on the extent of damage.

Exact schedules for Kyiv, Boryspil and Brovary can be found on regional energy company websites or in the E-Svitlo app, where 30-minute outage slots are listed.

It is recalled that on 26 January 2023, hourly electricity outage schedules were introduced across Ukraine following relentless Russian attacks on the country’s energy systems.
It was also reported that power has been restored to 88,000 homes in Kyiv after a recent enemy attack.
