The Kostiantynivka and Pokrovsk sectors remain the hottest
Over the past 24 hours, on September 19, there were 234 combat engagements between the Ukrainian Defense Forces and Russian troops on the front lines. The highest number of attacks was recorded in the Kostiantynivka and Pokrovsk sectors, where Russian forces attempted to break through Ukrainian defenses.
This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in its summary on September 20. Over the past 24 hours, the Russian army actively used aircraft, drones, and artillery. In total, the enemy carried out 98 airstrikes and dropped 313 guided bombs.
In addition, Russian forces deployed 10,856 kamikaze drones and carried out 2,689 attacks on Ukrainian military positions and populated areas. Of these, 58 attacks were carried out using multiple launch rocket systems. Ukrainian missile forces and artillery also struck Russian targets.
According to the General Staff, Ukrainian forces struck four areas where Russian troops and equipment were concentrated, four drone command posts, four artillery systems, and artillery positions. A Russian command post and an anti-aircraft missile system were also hit.
The Situation in the Northeast
In the Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk sectors, Russian forces attempted to attack Ukrainian positions four times. The enemy also carried out 122 shelling attacks on Defense Forces positions and populated areas.
The following locations in the Sumy region came under Russian fire: Bezsalivka, Pustogorod, Bachivsk, Korenok, Ulanove, Rivne, Kruzhok, Potapivka, Obody, Mala Korchakivka, Pysarivka, Sadky, Mogrytsia, Korchakivka, Sumy, Sopych, Hirky, Romashkove, Fotovizh, and Vovfyne came under Russian fire in the Sumy region.
In the Chernihiv region, Khrinivka, Krasnyi Khutir, and Mykhalchyna-Sloboda came under fire. Vilcha Sloboda and Korenok were also hit by airstrikes.
In the Southern Slobozhanshchyna sector, Ukrainian forces repelled 10 attacks. Russian forces attempted to advance in the areas of Lyman, Artilne, Ternova, Mala Vovcha, Vilkhuvatka, Shev’yakivka, and Dovzhanka.
In the Kupiansk sector, the enemy launched two attacks in the areas of Kurylivka and Kivsharivka.
Fighting in Donetsk Oblast
The situation was most tense over the past 24 hours in the Kostiantynivka and Pokrovsk sectors.
In the Lyman sector, Russian troops attempted to attack Ukrainian positions 15 times. Fighting took place near Novoyegorivka, Cherneshchyna, Novoselivka, Zarichne, Stavky, Lyman, and Dibrova. Ukrainian forces repelled all of these attempts.
In the Sloviansk sector, Russian forces launched four offensives. The enemy attacked in the areas of Yampil and Mykolaivka, and also attempted to advance toward Piskunivka and Orekhuvatka.
In the Kramatorsk sector, one offensive operation was recorded. Russian forces attempted to advance toward Yurkivka.
Kostiantynivka Sector
In the Kostiantynivka sector, the Russian army carried out 25 attacks. Fighting continued near Kostiantynivka, as well as in the direction of Osykove, Dovha Balka, Illinivka, Rusyne Yar, Mykolaypillya, Stepy, and Vilne. This sector remains one of the most intense on the front line. Russian troops continue to look for opportunities to advance and are attempting to put pressure on Ukrainian defenses.
Pokrovsk Sector
In the Pokrovsk sector, Russian forces carried out 21 attacks. The enemy attempted to advance toward Dobropillia, Vodyanske, Bilytske, Novyi Donbas, Serhiivka, and Molodetske. Ukrainian forces continue to repel the Russian offensive in this sector of the front.
Southern Sectors
In the Huliaipole sector, Russian forces launched a single attack toward Kopaniv.
Meanwhile, Russian forces did not conduct any offensive operations in the Oleksandrivka, Orikhiv, and Dnipro sectors.
In the Volyn and Polissya sectors, Ukrainian forces detected no signs of Russian offensive formations being assembled. Thus, over the past 24 hours, the Russian army continued to actively attack Ukrainian positions along the entire front line. The Kostyantynivka and Pokrovsk sectors saw the most assaults, with 25 and 21 attacks recorded, respectively. This is stated in a post by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Facebook.
Russian troops attacked the Zaporizhzhia region 928 times over the past day. As a result of strikes on the Zaporizhzhia district, one person was killed and three others were wounded. Fifty-five settlements in the region came under fire.
