Lavrov said trust in the West had been lost and made new accusations

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov made yet another set of statements directed at Western countries. He claimed that Moscow allegedly no longer trusts its Western partners and questions their statements regarding possible peace talks.

According to the Russian official, the Kremlin does not consider such statements to be sincere and continues to accuse Western countries of interpreting events according to their own agenda.

The statement came after the NATO summit in Ankara on July 7–8, at the conclusion of which Alliance countries agreed to provide military and political support to Ukraine.

In Lavrov’s view, Western countries are merely pretending to seek a diplomatic settlement, while in reality they have begun to openly issue ultimatums to Moscow.

“We will no longer believe the West when it says it wants negotiated solutions. Our reserve of goodwill and hope has been completely exhausted,” he emphasized.

According to the Russian foreign minister, it was the actions of Western countries that derailed the agreements that had supposedly been reached earlier. This is what “led to” Moscow no longer being willing to rely on any guarantees.

At the same time, as Lavrov emphasized, Russia is not abandoning the goals that Putin outlined back in June 2024.

“The president has clearly confirmed that we will continue to pursue the goals that were set back in June 2024 during Vladimir Putin’s speech at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” he said.

His remarks were quoted by Russian propaganda media.

As a reminder, Lavrov stated that Russia has no intention of stopping the war.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that an important moment in the war is now unfolding for Ukraine. According to him, Russia no longer has the upper hand on the battlefield, and the main tool remaining at Vladimir Putin’s disposal is ballistic weapons.
