As a result of a massive nighttime attack on Kyiv, all districts of the capital were affected, with the most extensive damage reported in the Lukyanivka district.
This was reported by the Kyiv State Emergency Service.
As a result of a direct hit, the “Kvadrat” shopping mall was completely destroyed; the building burned down completely, and virtually nothing remains of it.
The Lukyanivka Market was also hit, where large-scale fires broke out. As a result, most of the market stalls were completely burned down and destroyed by fire.
A five-story residential building was damaged, with parts of the structure collapsing and windows shattered.
The Lukyanivska metro station also sustained significant damage, with the above-ground lobby partially destroyed. As a result, the station has been temporarily closed to passenger traffic, and further updates on the resumption of service will be provided. Access to and from the Alley of Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred at the Khreshchatyk station has also been temporarily restricted.
During the attack, the main office of Ukrposhta on Independence Square was damaged. As the company’s CEO, Ihor Smilianskyi, noted: “As a result of the nighttime strikes, the main office of Ukrposhta on Independence Square was damaged. Well, we’ve been planning to renovate it a bit for a while—so this will be an opportunity to quickly restore it, just like all our other branches after nights like this.”
Damage was also reported at the National Museum “Chernobyl” in Podil.
