Rosneft has banned the sale of gasoline in jerry cans

Rosneft has banned the sale of gasoline in jerry cans

Russia’s largest gas station chains—Rosneft, as well as its subsidiaries Bashneft and TNK—have completely stopped selling gasoline in jerry cans throughout the Russian Federation. The companies’ hotlines officially attributed these measures to “temporary increased seasonal demand,” emphasizing that fuel is currently dispensed exclusively directly into vehicle tanks.

In addition to the complete ban on containers, customer service representatives confirmed the introduction of an internal limit on the amount of fuel dispensed per vehicle, which is “typically” capped at 90 liters per vehicle.

Earlier, Tatneft also announced large-scale restrictions on the volume of petroleum products dispensed at the federal level. The real cause of the acute fuel shortage and the fuel crisis in more than 30 regions of the Russian Federation was a series of successful attacks by Ukrainian drones on key Russian oil refineries (in particular, the attack on the Taneco refinery), which forced the Russian government to simultaneously allow the supply of lower-quality fuel to the domestic market.

This was reported by Meduza.

Russia Allows Lower-Quality Gasoline Due to Fuel Crisis

Despite reports of gasoline shortages in a number of regions, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak stated that the situation on the country’s fuel market remains “stable.”
