The Ministry of Defense has standardized the Ukrainian "Desna" armored vehicle
The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has certified and authorized the Ukrainian-made UAT.DESNA multipurpose armored vehicle for service in the Armed Forces. The vehicle was designed to transport personnel and cargo outside areas of direct combat operations.
The ministry noted that the UAT.DESNA belongs to the mid-size class of multipurpose armored vehicles, similar to the American HMMWV (“Hummer”). During development, Ukrainian engineers took into account the design features of the American vehicle and the experience of its use by the Ukrainian military.
According to the Ministry of Defense, the armored vehicle has its own chassis, designed to perform combat missions in challenging conditions. It can carry a driver and four soldiers, reach speeds of up to 110 km/h, ford water up to 70 cm deep, and carry a payload of up to 1.5 metric tons.

The UAT.DESNA features a modular design and an automatic transmission; it combines a high level of mobility and protection and is intended to fill the gap between light, unarmored pickup trucks and heavy MRAP-class armored vehicles.
“In 2025, the Armed Forces of Ukraine received 25% more specialized armored vehicles compared to 2024. Most of these vehicles are built to the MRAP design, meaning they have enhanced protection against mines and ambushes,” the ministry noted.
This was reported on July 6 by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
As a reminder, the Ministry of Defense approved more than 1,100 new weapons models in just six months.
The Ministry of Defense has codified and authorized the use of the new Ukrainian-made B-1 unmanned aerial system by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. These ultra-light bombers are designed to strike concentrations of personnel, vehicles, and armored equipment.
