International journalists' federations have condemned the Russian attack on newsrooms in Kyiv
The International Federation of Journalists and the European Federation of Journalists have condemned the massive Russian attack on Kyiv on the night of May 24, which damaged the offices of several media outlets.
This was reported by the European Federation of Journalists.
According to the organization, at least six newsrooms were damaged, including the Kyiv bureau of Deutsche Welle, the ARD studio, UNIAN, Realna Gazeta, Shelte, and Graty.
The federations stated that strikes on civilian media infrastructure constitute an attack on freedom of speech and the public’s right to access information.
“Indiscriminate missile and drone attacks are yet another blow to the conditions necessary for independent journalism,” emphasized the general secretaries of the International and European Federations of Journalists.
The organizations also called on the international community to intensify efforts to hold Russia accountable for crimes against journalists and the media.
