A forest fire broke out in Rivne Oblast after a drone crashed
A forest fire broke out in the Rivne region after a drone crashed, engulfing the territory of the Sekhiv Forest District within the Klesiv Forest Region. The incident occurred on May 27.
This was reported by the Polissya Forest Office branch.
After the drone crashed in hot, dry, and windy weather, the fire quickly spread through the forest, posing a threat of a much larger blaze.
Fire trucks from the forestry district and more than 30 forest rangers were promptly deployed to extinguish the fire.
Thanks to the rapid response, the fire was contained within a few hours. The fire destroyed nearly 1 hectare of forest.
The forestry service notes that prompt action helped prevent the fire from spreading on a large scale and caused significantly fewer losses to the forest reserve.
Additionally, a large-scale forest fire broke out in the Chernihiv region near the state border. The fire engulfed thousands of hectares of forest, and preliminary data indicates that Russian shelling of border areas caused the blaze.
Over the past 24 hours, the Russian army carried out 41 strikes on border areas of the Chernihiv region, primarily using FPV drones.
In addition, in the Dnipropetrovsk region, a Russian FPV drone struck a utility vehicle carrying power company workers who were on their way to perform restoration work.
