In the Sumy region, a woman on a bicycle helped soldiers evacuate a blown-up IED

While carrying out a combat mission in the Sumy region, a civilian woman on a bicycle helped servicemen from the 71st Separate Airborne Brigade of the Airborne Forces evacuate a damaged ground-based robotic system.

Thanks to her assistance, the damaged equipment was successfully retrieved. All aircraft returned to base after completing the mission.

What is known about the incident?

One of the Ukrainian ground robots was detonated by an enemy mine, after which another robot arrived at the scene to evacuate it.

The second robotic system was initially unable to remotely hook onto the damaged vehicle. Just then, a local woman riding a bicycle happened to be passing by; she stopped, concealed her own vehicle, and helped pull and hook the robot.

After the woman left the dangerous area, the operators completed the remote hooking operation and transported the system back to base. All robotic vehicles returned intact and ready to carry out new missions.

The 71st Brigade expressed sincere gratitude to the woman for her courage and compassion during a difficult moment. At the same time, the military emphasized that the main goal of using robotics is to minimize risks to people, so they urged civilians to prioritize their own safety.

This was reported by the communications department of the 71st Separate Airborne Brigade of the Airborne Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

There were 173 combat engagements on the front lines, with the occupiers pressing forward in the Pokrovsk and Kostiantynivka sectors, according to the General Staff.
