Defense forces struck the Samara Gas Distribution System and the Astrakhan Gas Processing Plant

As a result of previous strikes on Russian territory, damage to a number of enemy fuel and energy facilities has been confirmed. These include, in particular, the “Samara” Linear Production and Dispatch Station (LPDS) in the Samara Region and the “Astrakhan” gas processing plant in the Astrakhan Region of the Russian Federation.

As a result of the strike on October 2, 2026, on the “Samara” LPS in Prosvet, Samara Oblast, Russian Federation, damage to the facility’s infrastructure has been confirmed.

Specifically, the following were damaged:

  • eleven RVS-20000 tanks;
  • three RVSPK-50000 tanks;
  • a section of pipelines;
  • an automated petroleum product loading station.

The Samara Oil Receiving and Storage Complex is a major hub for the receipt, storage, and blending of crude oil. Crude oil is delivered to the station via main oil pipelines from Tatarstan, Western Siberia, and other oil-producing regions of the Russian Federation.

At the facility, high- and low-sulfur crude from various fields is blended to produce the Urals export grade. It accounts for up to 50% of Russia’s total crude oil exports.

The facility is also involved in meeting the needs of the Russian Armed Forces.

Furthermore, following the strike on October 4, 2026, against the “Astrakhan” gas processing plant in Astrakhan, Astrakhan Oblast, Russia, damage to production facilities has been confirmed.

Specifically, this involves components of two gas purification units—U-172 and U-272—as well as the U-1731 secondary distillation unit.

The Astrakhan Gas Processing Plant is one of the world’s largest producers of gas sulfur. This product is used, in particular, in nitration processes during the manufacture of explosives and gunpowder.

The plant’s design capacity is up to 12 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year. Annually, the plant produces up to 3.5 million metric tons of technical sulfur, accounting for about 50% of Russia’s total production.

The facility is also involved in supplying the Russian Federation’s armed forces.

Ukraine views strikes against such facilities of the Russian aggressor as the exercise of its inalienable right to self-defense in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter.

It is noted that such actions are aimed at reducing the military and economic potential of the Russian Federation, particularly facilities involved in meeting the needs of the Russian armed forces.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports on the results of the strikes.

As a reminder, on October 2 and during the night of October 3, the Ukrainian Defense Forces carried out strikes against a number of key targets belonging to the Russian occupation forces. Among the targets struck were a storage, training, and launch site for attack drones, a command post, a river crossing, and a repair base.

Since the evening of September 29, the Ukrainian Defense Forces have carried out strikes against key military facilities of the Russian occupiers. Among the targets struck were a drone depot, a command and observation post, and enemy support facilities, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Operators from the 413th SBS “Raid” Regiment struck a Russian BM-27 “Uragan” multiple rocket launcher in the temporarily occupied territory of Zaporizhzhia Oblast. The strike was carried out by Ukrainian drone operators.
