The situation on the Zaporizhzhia front has eased: the commander of the 1st Special Operations Battalion provided an update on the situation

The situation in the Zaporizhzhia sector has improved over the past two months. At the same time, fighting continues, and as colder weather approaches, Ukrainian troops are anticipating a change in the enemy’s tactics.

Dmytro “Perun” Filatov, commander of the 1st Special Forces Battalion named after Dmytro Kotsyubailo, noted that compared to the situation in July and September, the situation is no longer as critical.

According to him, Russian troops have shifted their main focus to the Dobropillia sector in the Donetsk region. There, the occupying forces have intensified their pressure ahead of the cold weather.

Filatov explained that Pokrovsk, which is under Russian control, could become a stronghold for Russian forces this winter. At the same time, the Zaporizhzhia sector has significantly less dense urban development, so the occupiers are concentrating special forces units there.

Currently, they are not very active, but as the weather worsens, the situation may change. According to “Perun’s” assessment, the enemy in the Zaporizhzhia region will primarily carry out diversionary operations.

A high-ranking Russian officer—Colonel Andriy Krestyansky—was killed in Ukraine. He held the position of senior instructor and inspector at the Command Staff Training Center of the Russian Ministry of Defense.

The “Russian Officers Killed in Ukraine” project has uncovered evidence of the death of another officer from Russia’s 41st Combined Arms Army. The officer in question is Lieutenant Colonel Artem Akimov, who served as deputy commander of the army’s air defense command. Researchers speculate that he may have been killed during a Ukrainian strike on a command post in Donetsk on August 26, but this theory has not yet been independently confirmed.
