Situation most difficult near Pokrovsk and Huliaipole – General Staff
As of 04:00 p.m. on February 2, 2026, 63 combat engagements had taken place along the frontline, with the main pressure from the occupiers concentrated on the Pokrovsk direction.
This was reported in the operational update of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian forces continue massive shelling of the border areas of Sumy and Chernihiv regions directly from the territory of Russia, using artillery and multiple launch rocket systems against the settlements of Tymonovychi, Pavlivka, and Ryzhivka.
The highest intensity of fighting was recorded on the Pokrovsk direction, where the invaders carried out 28 assault attempts in the areas of Myrnohrad, Rodynske, and Udachne. Ukrainian defenders have already repelled 21 attacks, holding back Russian efforts to break through the defenses and push back Ukrainian units. Active fighting is also ongoing on the Huliaipole direction: seven attacks have been repelled, but six engagements in the areas of Huliaipole and Dorozhnianka are still continuing under the cover of enemy aviation.
On other sections of the front, the situation remains tense. Eight attacks were recorded on the Kostiantynivka direction, five on the Lyman direction, and on the Pivdenno-Slobozhanskyi direction the enemy attempted to advance five times toward Vovchansk and Dvorichanske. At the same time, no active offensive actions by Russia were recorded on the Orikhiv and Prydniprovske directions. The Defense Forces of Ukraine continue to wear down the aggressor’s resources along the entire line of contact, striking the rear positions of Russian occupation forces.
In Kupiansk, only several dozen occupiers remain to be eliminated, Trehubov said.
Meanwhile, the National Guard brigade “Khartiia” has regained control of the city council building in the center of Kupiansk and continues clearing the city of remaining occupation forces.
The Defense Forces of Ukraine continue active combat operations on the eastern front and have advanced in the Kupiansk area of Kharkiv region, as well as near Pokrovsk in Donetsk region.
