The Kirishinefteorgsintez oil refinery could resume operations in a month following a drone attack, according to Reuters

The Russian oil refinery "Kirishinefteorgsintez" (KINEF) in the city of Kirishi, which was hit by drone attacks last week, may partially resume production within a month. This will depend on how quickly Russian ports resume operations for oil shipments.

Reuters reports this, citing two industry sources.

According to the sources, the launch of three of the four main units will allow the plant to produce about 60% of its nominal capacity and ensure the production of motor fuel.

At the same time, fuel exports remain difficult due to damage to Baltic Sea ports following drone attacks.

Previously, the plant was forced to suspend operations due to fires caused by drone strikes. Prior to the incident, KINEF produced approximately 2 million tons of gasoline, 7.1 million tons of diesel fuel, 6.1 million tons of fuel oil, and 600,000 tons of bitumen per year.

As a reminder, on the night of March 26, units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces struck the Kirishi Oil Refinery in the city of Kirishi, Leningrad Oblast, Russian Federation.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine successfully struck a strategically important facility of the Russian Federation’s fuel and energy infrastructure. The target was the Bashneft-Ufaneftekhim oil refinery, located in the city of Ufa, approximately 1,400 kilometers from Ukraine’s state border.
