‘Hugging each other, they burned alive’ — mother and daughter identified in Ternopil
The identities of a woman and child who died in the Russian missile strike on Ternopil have been confirmed.
Ternopil Secondary School No. 27, where the girl studied, reported that Amelia Hrzesko, a 2nd-grade student, and her mother Oksana Hrzesko were killed. The school said the mother and daughter were found holding each other.
"They were burned alive while embracing each other as a result of an enemy rocket attack. Our entire school family mourns this irreparable loss: Amelia, a bright girl, a little angel, will never again sit at her desk, hug her classmates, or warm them with her bright gaze... We bow our heads in sorrow before the bright memory of the deceased and share the pain and grief of their families," the school said.
A memorial service for Amelia and Oksana Hrzesko will be held on 21 November at St. Michael the Archangel Church.
The strike occurred during a combined Russian attack on the city on the night of 19 November, which hit a multi-storey residential building.
