The occupiers are using children in Kreminna as human shields
Russian occupation forces are not evacuating children from the frontline town of Kreminna in Luhansk Oblast and, according to Ukrainian authorities, are effectively using the civilian population—including minors—as “human shields.” The Ukrainian side emphasizes that such actions constitute a gross violation of international humanitarian law.
Not only is the occupation administration failing to evacuate minors, but it is also refusing to organize summer health camps for them outside the danger zone.
“The occupying authorities in Kreminna are refusing to remove children from this frontline town. This concerns not only evacuation but also summer health camps. The invaders are using the roughly 1,000 girls and boys who remain in the district as ‘human shields’ to cover up the criminal actions of the Russian army,” wrote Oleksiy Kharchenko, head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration.
In addition, the head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration reported on the deepening staffing crisis in the temporarily occupied territory of the region. According to him, the occupying authorities are unable to overcome the labor shortage, despite the financial incentives and other benefits offered by Russia.
Kharchenko cited data from the so-called “All-Russian Job Fair” held in the occupied part of Luhansk Oblast. He said that only 46 people applied for 3,850 open positions. “Nearly 99% of the vacant positions received no applications,” noted the head of the Luhansk Regional State Administration.
