Occupation courts sentenced Ukrainians to 40 years in prison in two separate rulings
Occupation courts in the occupied part of Donetsk Oblast have handed down two new sentences to Ukrainians, imposing a total of 40 years in prison. A resident of Makiivka was sentenced to 15 years for passing on information about Russian military personnel and equipment.
The occupiers sentenced Yevhen Karpenko, a resident of Mariupol, to 25 years in prison for allegedly collaborating with the SBU.
According to reports, the occupying so-called “Supreme Court of the DPR” charged the Makiyivka resident with “treason” and “espionage.”
According to the occupiers, in August 2024, the Ukrainian woman used a chatbot to pass on information about the locations of Russian troops and military equipment. On May 13, 2026, she was detained while attempting to cross the border.
A court controlled by the Russian Federation sentenced the woman to 15 years in prison and a fine of 400,000 rubles.
Meanwhile, the Southern District Military Court of the Russian Federation sentenced Yevhen Karpenko, a resident of Mariupol, to 25 years in prison and a fine of 650,000 rubles.
According to the FSB, Karpenko allegedly collaborated with the Security Service of Ukraine, received components for explosive devices, and set up hiding places. He is to serve the first five years of his sentence in prison and the remainder in a maximum-security penal colony.
“Two Ukrainians for their heroic deeds—40 years in prison between them,” Andriushchenko commented.
According to his calculations, since the beginning of September alone, the occupying authorities and Russian courts have already handed down at least six such sentences to Ukrainians: two against residents of occupied Crimea, two in the Kherson region, one in the Zaporizhzhia region, and one in the Donetsk region/Mariupol.
