Five regions of Ukraine were left without power due to shelling by Russia
As of the morning of September 2, power outages had been reported in five regions of Ukraine due to Russian attacks. The situation remains most critical in the Odesa region, where the enemy launched a massive missile and drone strike on energy infrastructure overnight.
Ukrenergo noted that Odesa Oblast was hit hardest by the nighttime attack on energy infrastructure.
“Overnight, the enemy carried out a massive missile and drone attack on the energy infrastructure of the Odesa region. The situation in this region is currently the most critical. Emergency repair work in the region began as soon as the security situation allowed,” the statement reads.
Utility workers are already working to restore power as soon as it becomes safe to do so.
New power outages were also reported in:
- Sumy Oblast;
- Kharkiv Oblast;
- Chernihiv Oblast;
- Kherson Oblast.
Specialists have begun emergency repair work in all regions where safety conditions permit.
As of 9:30 a.m. on September 2, electricity consumption was 6.8% lower than at the same time the previous day.
Ukrenergo explained that this is due to clear weather across most of Ukraine. Thanks to the sunny weather, residential solar power plants can generate electricity more efficiently.
Energy experts recommend shifting peak electricity consumption to the period between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., as this is when industrial solar power plants operate most efficiently.
At the same time, during the evening hours, when the load on the power grid increases, Ukrainians are asked to reduce their use of high-power electrical appliances.
In particular, the period from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. is when it is most important to conserve electricity as much as possible.

On the morning of September 2, Russian troops continued their attack on Ukraine with strike drones. Explosions were heard in Kyiv and the Kyiv region, where air defense forces are operating.
On the night of September 1, Russia launched a massive strike against Ukraine using missiles and more than 170 drones. Air defense forces repelled the attack, during which the enemy used, among other things, “Iskander” and “Banderol” missiles.
Russian troops attacked one of the industrial facilities in the Poltava district. Rescue workers were on the scene following the enemy strike.
Over the past day, Russian troops attacked 54 settlements in the Kherson region, using strike drones, aircraft, and artillery.
In the town of Vyshneve in the Bucha district of the Kyiv region, a fire broke out in two townhouses as a result of an attack by a Russian strike drone. Structural damage was also reported.
Over the past day, Russian troops attacked settlements in the Sumy region 62 times. One person was killed and eight others were wounded as a result of the enemy strikes.
Rescue workers extinguished fires in three warehouses that broke out following a Russian attack on the Kyiv region. Firefighters put out the blazes at all three sites.
In Kyiv and several regions, an air raid alert was issued on the evening of September 1 at 6:24 p.m. due to the threat of Russian UAVs. The Ukrainian Air Force urged citizens to immediately seek shelter or follow the “two-wall rule” if safe buildings are not accessible.
Ukraine is conducting combat tests of at least four jet interceptors designed to counter Russian jet drones.
